His first private music teacher, bassist Dave Crigger, exposed him to the world of multitrack recording around age 13. By the time Scott graduated from high school, he was teaching private bass guitar lessons, recording bands in his home studio, running live sound at a plethora of venues in the northern Virginia area, and managing the Pro Audio department of a local music store.

At age 19, Scott joined the staff at Walton Recording, a digital and analog multitrack recording facility in Fairfax, Virginia. During his 7 years there, Scott was able to learn a great deal under the tutelage of engineer Shannon Walton, all the while honing his production skills and networking with a "who's who" of the Washington D.C. music scene. In 2002, after the owners of Walton Recording decided to let their studio go, Scott opened his own small space in Woodbridge, Virginia, calling it Golden Sound Studio. After 5 years in that location, the quality of Scott's work and the needs of the clientele were outgrowing the capabilities of that studio. So, in 2007, the studio moved to Kensington, Maryland, where the additional space and impressive equipment list has allowed it to continue growing.

Scott continues to produce and engineer a wide variety of projects that include singer / songwriter production, live band recording, voice-over for audio books, commercials, and more, audio restoration of deteriorated recordings, jingle writing and production, and music composition for all applications.

SPECIALTIES:

- Music Production:
Orchestral, jazz, MIDI-based

- Commercial Production:
Film & TV soundtracks

- Mixing

Patrick Smith - Engineer, Producer, Composer
Patrick Smith is a keyboardist, composer, and producer of music for film, television and other media, and has been doing so for over 20 years.
